Brewing and malting processes

Canadian Malting Barley Technical Centre (CMBTC)

The Canadian Malting Barley Technical Centre (CMBTC) is Canada’s premier applied malting and brewing research facility. Established in Winnipeg in 2000, its staff members are fully trained maltsters and brewers. CMBTC performs pilot-scale malting and brewing which duplicate large scale operations under way across the country.

This work allows centre staff to act as trouble shooters, providing the technical support, training and problem solving that continually improve brewing and malting processes and products. The centre’s ongoing analysis of composite crop samples and testing of new varieties provide its members and customers with a steady flow of research results.
